We are an international organisation that specialises in developing and manufacturing chemicals for the textile industry. Our experts around the world continually seek (and find) answers for the textile-related challenges that brands, dyehouses and mills face. We optimise production processes, improve textile quality and create perfect products for the end user.
Partly thanks to our roots in Bayer and Sybron, we have the expertise, experience and a personal approach to make us the ideal partner for a broad customer target group, and we’ve been just that for more than 60 years. We work together to make textiles better, smarter, more sustainable and more valuable for the user.
Pioneering role
We challenge each and every customer to let us change their world. In doing so, we often take a pioneering role, by becoming experts in the latest technological breakthroughs. As proud science nerds, we excel in laboratory work. However, we also like to view ourselves as the cowboys of the textile industry: we might be small in size, but we are courageous at heart.
Vision
- We contribute to a sustainable textile industry.
Mission
- We aim to be a global sustainable player that supports its customers with higher performance textile processing innovations.
Challenge us to
change your world.
History Tanatex
Our company’s story dates back to the invention of polyester in the 1950s. Despite its many great properties, polyester was immensely challenging for many manufacturers because they did not know how to dye it. That is, until the founding of TANATEX Chemicals.
We were the first on the scene with the chemical answer that was capable of reaching the core of polyester molecules. Suddenly, dyeing was possible! This would turn out to be just the first of many TANATEX inventions.
Over the years, we entered into partnerships with major players in the textile industry such as Bayer and Sybron, until we became independent in 2007. In the meantime, we continued to expand our expertise and develop concepts for dyeing cotton, wool and numerous other fibre types.

Worldwide
What does it really mean to operate globally? To us, it means we’re everywhere. Literally. Our business brings us from Europe and the Middle East to Africa and from Latin America to India and Japan. Our distributors are locals, meaning they know your home market and how to use our products on your specific product types. Their knowledge exceeds country borders, though, and is strengthened by our lab geeks at the Dutch headquarters in Ede.
