Laboratory Coordinator
Within TANATEX Chemicals B.V., the Laboratory Coordinator is part of the Marketing and Technology department. The Laboratory Coordinator supports Sales, Marketing and the Business Unit with answering questions from the market by lab investigations and provide verbal or written advice and recommendations. Responsibilities include coordinating laboratory activities, reporting findings and communicating with applicants. Test results are translated into promotional reports that supports the sales of Tanatex products. The role also involves performing complex laboratory tests while training and supervising staff to maintain high-quality standards in lab operations.
A few of you work-activities and responsibilities
- Needs Assessment: Analyse questions to existing programs, processes, and procedures. Determine the purpose of laboratory requests, investigate issues and collect any missing or required information.
- Testing: Ensure the quality of technical lab work and reports, ensuring they meet requirements within agreed timeframes. Conduct both standard and complex tests within a specific technical discipline, including test selection, preparation, maintenance and analysis. Evaluate test results and determine if additional testing is needed, coordinating with other (laboratory) technologists when necessary.
- Solutions Analysis: Interpret data and identify potential solutions by navigating a range of processes, procedures and precedents. Gather and analyse laboratory results, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Improvement & Innovation: Identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements to existing processes, systems, procedures and testing methods. Propose new research and investigation methods, continuously striving for procedural improvements to enhance quality and safety.
- Compliance: Independently compile and maintain accurate, up-to-date records. Ensure adherence to all relevant processes, guidelines and regulations.
- Work Scheduling & Allocation: Assign and manage short-term work schedules for team members to ensure expectations are met within established timelines.
- Client & Customer Management: Support colleagues in managing internal and external client relationships by leveraging technical expertise to promote products and concepts. Assist in preparing promotional materials and demonstrations. Maintain close contact with laboratory requestors to ensure final results align with expectations.
- Customer Needs & Experience Research: Contribute to understanding customer segments, needs and expectations by providing insights and feedback based on client interactions.
- Knowledge Management: Implement policies and best practices, collect case studies and participate in internal knowledge-sharing initiatives. Capture and distribute insights from projects to enhance team expertise.
- Performance Management: Set and track personal objectives, leveraging performance management systems to improve efficiency. Assign tasks, review progress and take corrective action as needed to ensure quality and timeliness. Contribute to individual performance reviews and appraisals.
- Organisational Capability Building: Provide coaching and guidance to team members, as well as sales personnel and customers when needed, to develop skills and technical expertise.
- Quality, Health, Environment & Safety (QHES): Adhere to the organisation’s QHES policies, procedures and mandatory guidelines. Identify and mitigate environmental and workplace safety risks, instruct teams on safe work practices and address any unsafe behaviours, escalating serious concerns as necessary.
What we are looking for in you
- Chemistry bachelor’s degree.
- Over 1 year of relevant experience working independently as a skilled practitioner.
- Minimum 6 months of experience supervising (junior) colleagues.
- Taking initiative and be action oriented.
- Demonstrate self-awareness and a willingness to improve.
- Support and develop talent within the team.
- Taking accountability and responsibility for tasks.
- Staying flexible and handling changes effectively.
- You are technically and comfortable with digital tools.
