In the TANATEX services lab, we search for the ultimate solution

“Interesting and complex requests from our customers, that’s what thrives our experts in the lab,” says Eva Pont, manager of the TANATEX services lab. It’s the place where textile processes are improved, where products “go green” and where customer problems are fixed. In close collaboration with the TANATEX R&D labs, the services labs and the laboratories of distributing partners deal with customer requests all around the world. The secret of success lies in the right equipment, passion and a critical eye. Eva: “Apart from their skills and enthusiasm, TANATEX lab technicians are also not easily satisfied. We don’t settle.”

“Customers don’t want to compromise”

Pains and gains
The TANATEX services lab offers support during every technical phase of the production process: pre-treatment, OBAs, dyeing, coating, traditional and digital printing, finishing, softening, and carpet processing. Customer requests vary from “please fix my problem” to “can you take my product from good to excellent?” Eva explains: “You can ask us pretty much everything, both pains and gains. We help customers save out on resources, improve their production process or take product quality to the next level.” Often, these things go hand in hand. “Sometimes it turns out that customers have contra productive chemicals in their process, while results would be better if they toned it down a little. Other times, they need to decide on which product property they find most important. Thanks to lab results, we can advise customers on which adjustments to make or which product combinations are possible.”

“We live and breathe ‘Adding passion to textiles’”

+1000 lab works a year
“We deal with around 1,100 lab works a year,” Eva says, “and I make sure all of these requirements are dealt with by the right person. I’m glad our distributing partners are able to do a part of the testing themselves, like degree of whiteness, water repellence or fastnesses. We receive the more complex requests that require in-depth expertise and the right instruments to run the tests with. Currently, we receive a lot of questions on flame retardants, permethrin analyses and competitor comparisons. Our products outperform others on many aspects, but in the end, our customers decide which of these aspects is most valuable to them. They’re not looking for compromise but for the ultimate solution. We can’t always offer this, but we can finetune on recipe and find the best suitable option under the given circumstances. This is a continuous challenge.”

The TANATEX touch
What is it that makes the TANATEX lab services so special? “We live and breathe ‘Adding passion to textiles’”, Eva says. “Every single lab technician will do everything in his or her power to get to the very best outcome.” Apart from their skills and enthusiasm, TANATEX lab technicians are also not easily satisfied. “We don’t settle,” Eva explains. “Second, we have the luxury of having both an R&D lab and a services lab at our facilities.” This means that innovation is always within reach. All the expertise and experience are gathered in one place, including several instruments from renowned international equipment providers that nobody else has. “We have everything at our disposal to fix even the most complex of problems. Even the smallest detail like magnesium or bicarbonate in the water or humidity can influence the end result, and in the lab, we get to the bottom of things,” Eva says. “Later, during the production trials, the finetuning takes place, as the effect of small changes tends to increase in a real-life production setting. All of this combined makes our customers really happy with the work we do. Not to mention, it’s reassuring to have test results, so they know they’ll be working with the best recipe possible.”
